It has many unique qualities that also make it worth the money. Not only is it the only four-litre Testa Rossa ever built, it is also the very last Testa Rossa and last front-engine racing car that Ferrari would ever build. The car was also a huge part of the win at the 24 Heures de Mans when it was driven by Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien. This would mark the third win for the famous racing pair and it would also be the last win at the competition by a front-engine car.

This all proves that not only is the car flashy but it holds a lot of history and character that make it worth the large sum of money that it was purchased for.

Cognac

Cognac is such prestigious liquor that it must only be produced in the region of France for which it is named. In addition to that, all cognac must be ninety percent comprised of three different types of grapes that are found in that region – Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard grapes. There is a list of criteria, including these two that the cognac must meet before it is then turned over to the Bureau National Interprofessionel du Cognac (BNIC) when they will determine if the liquor can truly be called a cognac. All of this criteria makes cognac a very expensive liquor but there is one that tops them all.

The most expensive cognac is Henri IV Dudognon Heritage and it is named after a French king. This king’s family has been making the cognac since 1776. The wine is placed in barrels where it will age for one hundred years. These barrels need to be air dried for five years before any cognac can be placed into them. The cognac that comes out of the barrels after one-hundred-and-five years is 41% alcohol, making it 82 proof.

The bottle in which the cognac is placed also contributes to it being the most expensive cognac in the world. The bottle is dipped in twenty-four karat gold and sterling platinum before being decorated with 6,500 brilliant cut diamonds. The total cost for this fine bottle of cognac?

$2 million USD.

When Hasbro created G.I. Joe in the 1970s, they were hoping for success but they probably didn’t think that they were creating something that would become an icon in the toy industry for forty years. G.I. Joe has been redeveloped over the years, has been the basis for a Marvel Comic series of comics, and is a familiar name to just about everyone. It’s no wonder that it is this military toy that is ranked as the most expensive action figure.

As with anything else, no matter how many people try to improve upon it and expand it, there will be nothing as truly valuable as the first G.I. Joe action figure. This prototype stands at twelve inches tall and has a retail value of $200,000 USD. It is currently owned by collector Steve Geppi and Joe is being showcased at the Geppi Museum in Baltimore, Maryland.

Letter

In 1991 a Beverly Hills company purchased a letter written by Abraham Lincoln on January 08 1863 for $748,000.00

The letter was written to Major General John Alexander McClernand defending the Emancipation Proclamation.

Here's the letter:

Abraham Lincoln
January 8, 1863

Executive Mansion,

Washington, January 8. 1863.

Major General McClernand

My dear Sir Your interesting communication by the hand of Major Scates is received. I never did ask more, nor ever was willing to accept less, than for all the States, and the people thereof, to take and hold their places, and their rights, in the Union, under the Constitution of the United States. For this alone have I felt authorized to struggle; and I seek neither more nor less now. Still, to use a coarse, but an expressive figure, broken eggs can not be mended. I have issued the emancipation proclamation, and I can not retract it.

After the commencement of hostilities I struggled nearly a year and a half to get along without touching the "institution"; and when finally I conditionally determined to touch it, I gave a hundred days fair notice of my purpose, to all the States and people, within which time they could have turned it wholly aside, by simply again becoming good citizens of the United States. They chose to disregard it, and I made the peremptory proclamation on what appeared to me to be a military necessity. And being made, it must stand. As to the States not included in it, of course they can have their rights in the Union as of old. Even the people of the states included, if they choose, need not to be hurt by it. Let them adopt systems of apprenticeship for the colored people, conforming substantially to the most approved plans of gradual emancipation; and, with the aid they can have from the general government, they may be nearly as well off, in this respect, as if the present trouble had not occurred, and much better off than they can possibly be if the contest continues persistently.

As to any dread of my having a "purpose to enslave, or exterminate, the whites of the South," I can scarcely believe that such dread exists. It is too absurd. I believe you can be my personal witness that no man is less to be dreaded for undue severity, in any case.

If the friends you mention really wish to have peace upon the old terms, they should act at once. Every day makes the case more difficult. They can so act, with entire safety, so far as I am concerned.

I think you would better not make this letter public; but you may rely confidently on my standing by whatever I have said in it. Please write me if any thing more comes to light. Yours very truly

A. LINCOLN.

Wool

Next time you pull that favourite wool sweater over your head, consider this: depending on the type of wool used, that same sweater could cost $1800 to $3000 a yard to make. That’s how much the world’s most expensive wool costs. The wool comes from an animal called the vicuña, which is in the same animal family as the llama and the alpaca. Origins of South America, these animals are so desired that they are nearing the point of extinction. This is one reason why the wool is so expensive. Another reason for the huge expense is due to the animal’s skittish nature. They are extremely difficult to catch and to harvest the wool.

It may also be the most expensive due to its high quality nature and because it is so incredibly warm. The warmth is generated by tiny interlocking scales that trap heat in, protecting the wearer from the cold. Due to its sensitive nature, the colour of the wool is left in its natural state because it cannot deal with harsh chemicals.

The vicuña is now protected by government, and has been since 1974 when there were only approximately 6,000 vicuñas left. Today there are over 125,000 but regulations remain in place. One of these animals will produce one pound of wool per year and this can only be harvested every three years under law. Once the vicuña has been caught, they are sheared before being returned to the wild. Clothing that is made with this precious wool will come with a certificate stating that the vicuña was legally harvested

The bridge was functional in 1936, approximately half a year before the Golden Gate Bridge opened.

The Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 seriously compromised the safety of one section of the bridge, especially if another earthquake should hit the city. Because different strategies had continuously been discussed about whether to repair or replace that section of the bridge, and where the funding should come from, construction was slow to begin. A decision was made to completely replace the entire section of bridge that had been damaged and that the funding would come from the people who travelled across it. The toll on the bridge has now been raised from three dollars to four dollars. With 280,000 vehicles crossing the bridge every day, this is a major source of funding.

January 2002 saw construction begin on the section of the bridge and it should be completed by 2012. The cost of replacing this section of bridge is approximately 6.3 billion dollars.

Aquarium Fish

Think that having fish as pets is cheap? Well it is if you’re buying goldfish or feeder fish that cost little to replace but there’s one aquarium fish that is not only very costly to replace, it’s also a very rare breed and has a very rare condition, all of which make it the most expensive aquarium fish in the world.

The fish is a platinum arowana and it is 15 inches long. It lives in Singapore, where it is owned by Aro Dynasty, a dragon fish breeder. Its right eye pulls downward and although this is a rare condition, it is not rare for the arowana breed.

However, the pure white color of this particular fish is rare, even amongst its own kind, and is considered a mutation. The fish was displayed at the show Aquarama 2007 where it gained international attention. Shortly after the show, Aro Dynasty received an offer of $80,000 for the fish and after declining, they received another offer of 200 pounds, about $400,000 USD for the fish. Turning that offer down as well, Aro Dynasty still maintains that the fish is not for sale. However, this rare fish is still considered to be the most expensive fish in the world.

Nail Polish

People have been decorating their nails since before the rise of the Roman Empire, so it’s only natural that someone would create a truly extravagant nail polish. “I Do” is just such a nail polish — and it’s the most expensive nail polish in the world.

Created as a collaboration between women’s beauty magazine Allure, Essie Cosmetics, Platinum Guild International (PGI) and British platinum supplier Johnson Matthey, “I Do” is made with powdered platinum and debuted at JCK-Las Vegas in 2005. The first batch of this luxury nail polish was displayed in a special bottle created by PGI and designer Henry Dunay and made of—you guessed it—pure platinum.

The platinum bottle of “I Do” is valued at $55,000. A normal bottle of the platinum polish can be purchased for a more affordable $250.

Shahid Khan Afridi

Born:1 March 1980, Khyber Agency

Shahid Khan Afridi; called in as a last minute replacement leg spinner for the One Day Tournament in Kenya in 1996, amazed everyone by smashing a century off 37 balls after being promoted to one down.

The promise shown in his early batting in international cricket has gradually worn off due to poor self-control and perhaps team management. He has not been called upon to play regular first class cricket to improve his batting skills, instead has been made a regular pinch hitter who after a few defensive strokes begins lashing out regardless of line and length.

This may have put a halt on his learning progress and he now needs to play far more carefully to retain his place in the team. The percentages were clearly against him and as he has so far failed to 'learn from experience', the tremendous expectations from him are subsiding.

Afridi probably introduced the fastest spin delivery the game has seen in recent years. Delivering quick leg spinners with an occasional even quicker one, he surprised and beat many batsmen through his unorthodox bowling. But with exposure, batsmen have now got used to him and fewer wickets fall Afridi's way. Never a significant turner or flighter of the ball, he has now just become a run stopper in the middle of the innings rather than a wicket taker.

Shahid Khan Afridi's extravagant bowling avg. (+45) and higher than average economy rate, coupled with his ever falling batting scores have begun to raise doubts and do not reflect the initial promise shown by this hugely popular youngster.
